The 550th TULSA Treatment has seemed more emotional than any other.
The solemn look and the quiet, yet loud screams and cries that it represents.
Who would have thought that when we bought this table, hung our picture, and added these very insignificant items to the table, this photo would speak so loudly?
Dr. Busch, Roland, Kerri, Jessica, Lauren, and I are so blessed to have been a very small part of these 550 men’s lives. Glory and Honor to our Lord Jesus Christ!
Every TULSA number represents a man who has had to deal with either BPH issues or the very dreaded diagnosis of prostate cancer.
The painting itself tells a story. It depicts a pathway. Dr. Busch and I purchased it years ago with our cancer patients in mind, and it has hung in each of our locations since.
For men with prostate cancer, the journey does not end—it becomes lifelong. And at times, it can feel frightening and deeply lonely.
Our granddaughter Adelai and our daughter—and Busch Center nurse—Jessica, had a beautiful idea: a shadowbox where each TULSA patient places a prostate-blue marble the day after their treatment. Together, they hand-painted each number. Each man turns his one-and-only number to be counted.
No number is ever repeated.
Each is entirely unique—just like the man it represents.
This photo has so much meaning to not only the Busch Center Team, but to each of our TULSA patients, because it is a representation of each of them.
A man. A life. A family.
This number represents hugs yet to be shared, fishing trips still to be taken, anniversaries celebrated, birthdays marked, and memories still waiting to be made.
To every patient who has placed their trust in us—thank you.
You are not just a number. You are the reason.
